Who Are You and What Do You Do?

At The Sweet Setup:

Every week we {aim to} post a new interview with someone about what software they use on their Mac, iPhone, or iPad. We do these interviews because not only are they fun, but a glimpse into what tools someone uses and how they use those tools can spark our imagination and give us an idea or insight into how we can do things better.

Today’s victim, er, interviewee:

My name is Brian McCabe, and I am a technology Consulting Director in a global professional services firm. I’ve been working in IT for over 30 years (how scary is that?!) having started off as a trainee Cobol programmer on ICL mainframes. Most of my career has centred around the deployment and management of Oracle software. I spend a lot of my time on the road, traveling mainly around the UK (with a few international trips) meeting clients and visiting our London HQ. The Apple setup works well for the mix of work locations, although recent global events have allowed me to focus more on my home setup.

I live in Manchester, UK with my partner Hayley, our two grown-up children, and the family dog, Colin. He is an Irish Terrier and can be seen on my Mac wallpaper.

You can catch Brian’s complete story here: Brian McCabe’s Mac, iOS, and Watch Setup.

Who Are You and What Do You Do?

We do these interviews because not only are they fun, but a glimpse into what tools someone uses and how they use those tools can spark our imagination and give us an idea or insight into how we can do things better.

Today’s victim, er, interviewee:

I’m Tony, and I live in Copenhagen, Denmark where my company — Airflix — specializes in shooting and editing drone videos.

We do drone videos for commercials, feature films, corporate videos, and everything in between. Apart from videos, we also do a fair amount of drone photos and photo editing.

I have set up a grading studio in my office where I colorgrade videos and edit photos.

I have put an effort into making my workspace as clutter-free as possible and removing visual distractions as I’m very OCD about how things look, and especially how they function on my desk. 😉

My desk is homemade with a shelf underneath painted in the same color as the wall, which for grading purposes is in a neutral gray color.

The purpose of the shelf is mainly to hide all the cables, ugly power bricks, and spinning HDDs (I have around 12-15 various drives for backups in there).

Keeping everything on a shelf under the desk also helps keep the noise level down. The desk is pushed a couple of inches away from the wall for ventilation purposes. This also allows room for a LED strip light on the back to show more light. The LED strip light provides backlight at an accurate temperature of 6500K, which is considered a neutral backlight when you color grade.

You can catch Tony’s complete story here: Tony Lindkold’s Mac Pro Setup.

Today’s victim, er, interviewee:

My name is Kyle Bauman, and I’m the Associate Pastor of Discipleship & Students at Bear Valley Community Church in Colleyville, TX (suburban Fort Worth). My main responsibility is teaching and leading our ministries for middle school, high school, and college students. I also work with some classes we offer, and I have some administrative/executive responsibilities. Finally, I preach in our main worship services about ten times a year and help plan our sermon series throughout the year.

Aside from work (and more importantly), I’m married to Julia and dad to an almost-3-year-old boy, with baby boy #2 on the way in February! Outside of work, my interests include college football and basketball, Apple and other consumer tech, and productivity. You can connect with me on Twitter.

Finding All Those (Dratted) WiFi Passwords on Your Mac

Good news (passwords do a lot to protect you online), bad news (how the heck am I supposed to remember all that??)…

There is even better news! Joel Cornell tells us all about it on How-To Geek:

Having a complex Wi-Fi password increases your security, as well as your likelihood to forget a long chain of letters and numbers. Fortunately, there are two quick methods for retrieving your home Wi-Fi password quickly and securely.

Keychain Access

Your Mac saves Wi-Fi passwords to your keychain, and you can see them in the Keychain Access application on your Mac.
