    Q&A

Our rewarding Monthly Prize Drawing includes an iRest (iPad lap stand), a Vaultskin Lexx Wallet Case for iPhone 5/5S, iPad holders, and OS 10.9 Mavericks on a USB thumb drive. Don’t forget: members receive one free ticket for the drawing. Bring a guest and get another free ticket! Support our group and increase your chances of winning some goodies – drawing tickets are $1.00 each or six for $5.00. The odds are great that you can be a winner!

The meeting will be held at the Pasadena Public Library Main Branch Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. Following the general meeting, we have our informal Meeting after the Meeting at Coco’s Restaurant, 77 N. Lake Ave. (between Colorado Blvd. and Holly St.).

President’s Message

Greetings all, and Happy New Year!

As we enter into 2014, our first two meetings of the year will be on the second Monday in January (the 13th) and February (the 10th). Then, we will return to our regular third-Monday-of-the-month meeting schedule. We look forward to your joining us at the Pasadena Library at 7:00 p.m. For more information about our monthly meetings, please visit our Web site: https://sgvaug.org/.

Each month, your Board of Directors meets to determine which topics would be of interest to you, our members. As your President, I believe we have been reasonably successful in this endeavor.  However, our job would be much easier – and more productive for you, as well – if we received some ideas from you as to what topics and issues you want to hear.

As I mention at the opening of every meeting, we have several ways you can contact us with your feedback. First, and most easily, you can reach us via SGVMUG@gmail.com . You also can reach us via our mailing list, Mac Talk. If you’re not already a member, sign up here. And, of course, you always can speak directly with any of the Board members at our monthly meetings.

And if you have something you would like to present to the group (or know of someone else who does), please let us know. As you have seen, our meeting schedule and presentations are quite informal, so you needn’t worry about how much (or how little) time you need. Just let us know and we will plan the meeting agenda accordingly.

Finally, please remember to renew your membership for 2014. You may do so at the meetings or via the Membership tab at the top menu bar on our Web site.

I look forward to seeing you at the meetings.

Best wishes for the new year!

Ron Streicher, President
San Gabriel Valley Macintosh Users Group

Got a new iPhone? Take a look at Get started with the iPhone 5c and 5s. What a compendium! And don’t neglect the subsequent pages.

The weather outside is frightful, and if a digital Yule log on your HDTV is all you’ve got, go for it!

Giving the gift of yourself has a ton of suggestions, courtesy of Dr Breen, on helping out friends and rellies. You don’t need to be an expert; sometimes being one page ahead in the manual is more than enough.
