***** PRIOR-TO-MAVERICKS INSTALLATION WARNING *****

TO ALL: It is very important to do backups, as we have discussed in several prior meetings, and I, as well as others, have STRONGLY suggested that anyone do the proper backups prior to major upgrades in addition to a regular backup routine. Particularly with Mavericks, this is a critical step, considering the massive changes in the OS and all the ground-up rewrites of iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, & GarageBand), iWorks (Pages, Numbers, & Keynote), and others.

Follow the Mac 10 Commandments and be sure to do standard maintenance with Disk Utility, etc. Make sure you review Backup Options and Strategies

Also, make sure that all of your critical apps and utilities are Mavericks-compatible or have Mavericks-ready updates or upgrades.

Were You at the Meeting Last Night?

If not, you missed more iOS 7/Mavericks hints, tips, and discussion (see Apps & Traps for the hints and tips), and a couple of pretty good (if I do say so myself      ðŸ˜‰ application presentations.

Q&A was pretty informative, too.

At Coco’s, we had a taste test between leaded and unleaded Cherry Pepsi, discussions on various municipalities’ traffic and cell phone tower foibles, and I didn’t have breakfast.

That’s my story; I’m sticking to it!

Mac computer, IBM keyboard

Yep!! That’s a MacBook Pro (with two big monitors connected) and an IBM *PC* keyboard!!

And here’s why: Why I use a 20-year-old IBM Model M keyboard

Got a 15″ MacBook Pro from 2010? Check out Cures for a panicking mid-2010 MacBook Pro (hopefully yours isn’t one of the bad boys).

Mavericks may not be *all* that different from Mountain Lion, but Dr Breen has found that iMovie 10 is another story, hence Getting started with iMovie 10. Looks like fun…
