01 Net Neutrality: Obama, Wheeler, ICANN, Internet Freedom Act, FCC, FTC, and more

If you remember UGNN coverage of Net Neutrality over the years, you’ll know it’s been a nasty issue for over a decade! Now they’ve gotten serious about it. The media wants you to believe it’s a black-or-white issue, but it’s far more complicated than that and now Russia, China and global competitors for the Internet are weighing in. There’s no telling which way it will go, but you know for sure, if it’s happening in technology, UGNN InfoManager covers it! Follow along:
[] Jesse Jackson Sez He’s Lobbying For Net Neutrality Rules To Help Protect The Poor
[] EU net neutrality legislation under threat from Italy, says rights group
[] Net neutrality looks doomed in Europe before it even gets started
[] Cantwell to FCC: No “toll lanes”, preserve net neutrality
[] Obama’s Net-Neutrality Plan Could Mean New Internet Fees
[] Net neutrality would boost FCC’s budget by upping fees

[] FCC chairman: We will get sued on net neutrality

05 Free Audio Books

I have found that I don’t read books any more. I listen while commuting to and from work and other places. Of course, I’ve got a subscription to Audible. I do recommend it, but it does cost $14.95 for a single credit a month or $22.95 to get two. (There are a few exceptions, but most books are 1 credit). While that is usually enough for me, I’m looking for other options that aren’t as expensive. I have found a few. Posted by Lynn Wegley

Cynapse’s business dashboard app, Numerics, has received a major update leveraging the new iOS 8 features and the new capabilities of the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPad Air 2. Numerics is now being featured as one of the top apps in the business category on the iTunes App Store.

07 KnujOn reports on ICANN, November, 2014

Posted by Fred: You’ve heard me talk about KnujOn many times before. Although SpamCop discontinued their POP e-mail services, the fight against spam, phishing, and all kinds of illicit online cybercrime goes on. KnujOn is an all-volunteer, unfunded initiative. We are committed to this solution and appreciate your patience while we work our way through the maze of Internet bureaucracy to reduce illicit traffic and spam. The following is the latest update about their ICANN investigation:

08 Mac Yourself (Again!)

I have listed a number of Mac Hint and Tip sites over the years. This is one that I “Stumbled” on tonight. One of the great problems with using Stumble for looking for Web sites is that you can spend a lot of time without good results, even if you enjoy it. In this case, the time was worth it.

09 Thanksgiving Quote: What to give thanks for?

The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government – lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.
– Patrick Henry
