Who are you and what do you do?

At The Sweet Setup:

Every week we try to post a new interview with someone about what software they use on their Mac, iPhone, or iPad. We do these interviews because not only are they fun, but a glimpse into what tools someone uses and how they use those tools can spark our imagination and give us an idea or insight into how we can do things better.

Today’s victim, er, interviewee:

Hi! My name is Arturo Goga. I’m a technology writer for a fairly popular Spanish opinion Web site that also goes by my name: arturogoga.com, and my YouTube channel.

My main job consists of mainly producing content every day. I focus on some news, but at least once or twice a week, I try to prepare a more in-depth article or video.

You can catch Arturo’s complete story here: Arturo Goga’s Mac and iOS setup.

“Back issues” can be found here: Sweet Setup Interviews.

8 awesome iPhone apps

Zach Epstein, over on BGR, has a bad habit of posting lists of cool iPhone/iPad(/iPod Touch)(/Apple Watch) apps that are temporarily free.

Here’s the fine print:

These are paid iPhone and iPad apps that have been made available for free for a limited time by their developers. There is no way to tell how long they will be free. These sales could end an hour from now or a week from now – obviously, the only thing we can guarantee is that they were free at the time this post was written. If you click on a link and see a price listed next to an app instead of the word “get”, it is no longer free. The sale has ended. If you download the app, you will be charged.

More El Capitan Advice

Contemplating upgrading to El Capitan (OS X 10.11)? Dr Mac (Bob LeVitus) has a short and sweet article on The Mac Observer, Dr Mac’s Rants & Raves Episode #144: Read This Before You Install El Capitan. The bit that caught my eye first:

So before I say another word about El Capitan, here’s my advice (which is the same advice I give you every year): You might want to wait for the inevitable point release (i.e. version 10.11.01), just in case.

And don’t forget: December’s general meeting is all about El Capitan.

(Thanks to Andrew Zima for the pointer!)

Hi! I’m Daniel Aditya Istyana. My primary job is at a clinical laboratory as a quality assurance officer of chemistry. I’m responsible for maintaining 120 branch offices and maintaining quality levels through various processes. Besides that, I’m also a freelance writer for an Indonesian tech blog. At night and during my spare time I write my own blog as well. I’m also currently going to college for a computer science degree.

Talk Time

iPhone 6s and 6s Plus
Graphic from the article

And not to be outdone, AppleInsider started the month with In-depth review: Apple’s iPhone 6s & 6s Plus with 3D Touch. Daniel Eran Dilger starts thusly:

Last year’s iPhone 6 and 6 Plus introduced a larger, slimmer form factor housing higher resolution Retina HD screens and improvements in processors, cameras and wireless. While Apple’s latest 6s and 6s Plus models look virtually identical, the company has significantly improved nearly every key feature, from a stronger glass and metal exterior outside to high-performance components inside, including a new pressure sensitive 3D Touch display.

If you’re contemplating a new iPhone, you must take a look here.

Finding Stuff in El Capitan

Spotlight search has long been one of the greatest features on the Mac (and iOS for that matter), and now with OS X El Capitan the near instant search engine that spans Apple platforms has some new capabilities that make it even more powerful and worthwhile. From being able to find vaguely referenced recent documents, to seeing the weather anywhere, to getting sports scores and game schedules, you’ll be sure to find Spotlight is more useful than ever before thanks to natural language search and recognition.

So begins Paul Horowitz’s 5 Great New Spotlight Search Tricks in OS X El Capitan on OS X Daily, which continues with great detail on the new features. Check it out.
