Were You at the Meeting Last Night?

If not, you missed even more useful and interesting stuff about the Finder we all needed to know!

The Meeting after the Meeting had to do with getting documents across all devices; iCloud photo sharing; flooding & gawd-awful temps in the desert; passwords in 1Password & Keychain; backup, backup, backup; Leonard Nimoy & a hammer; how to kill a spinner hard drive; and selling a digital copier.

That’s my story; I’m sticking to it!

Who Are You and What Do You Do?

At The Sweet Setup:

In this series, we post a new interview with someone about what software they use on their Mac, iPhone, or iPad. We do these interviews because not only are they fun, but a glimpse into what tools someone uses and how they use those tools can spark our imagination and give us an idea or insight into how we can do things better.

Today’s victim, er, interviewee:

I have loved slowly fidgeting with my iPhone Home Screen, especially with the new updates to iOS over the years.

But I think it’s time for a total revamp. My Lock Screen image has been the same for at least five years. Some of my apps have been in the same place since I got my first iPhone, almost 10 years ago. So, I decided it was time to change it up.

When I sat down to think about what I wanted my iPhone to accomplish for me, it was easier to figure out what changes I wanted to make. I see my iPhone as a tool. A tool for connection and communication. A tool that also sometimes needs some limits so my screen time summary doesn’t tell me I could have gotten a part-time job with the time I spent on my phone.

If not, you missed a great tour of Ventura. Um… the MacOS, not the beach city…

The Meeting after the Meeting was all about Mac for sale, name the two actors, iPhone battery life sagging, whey is the next iPad Pro coming out?, MacBook battery issues, ZOOM Internet issues, and commute times.

That’s my story; I’m sticking to it!

New iPhone Features

iPhones are pretty handy devices, helping us get lots of stuff done. And they don’t ever seem to stop coming up with new, cool stuff. Samuel Axon post an article on Ars Technica today about some new accessibility features:

Global Accessibility Awareness Day is Thursday, so Apple took to its newsroom blog this week to announce several major new accessibility features headed to the iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac.

One of the most widely used will likely be Live Captions, which is coming to iPhone, Mac, and iPad. The feature shows AI-driven, live-updating subtitles for speech coming from any audio source on the phone, whether the user is “on a phone or FaceTime call, using a video conferencing or social media app, streaming media content, or having a conversation with someone next to them.”

For the whole scoop, PYBT: Apple details new iPhone features like door detection, live captions.

From Apple, on Twitter, this morning: iPhone lets you choose which apps have permission to track you. PYBT for the scoop: Privacy.
