Were You At the Meeting Last Night?

If not, you missed a rather techno-geek way of sharing:

Billy was presenting Dolly Drive and had arranged for Sid Newman (back East, somewhere) and Mark Ross (in Texas), of Dolly Drive, to join us, via WebEx, a Web/videoconferencing app. We could see what was happening on one of their Macs and could hear both of them as they explained things and answered questions. (I won’t say anything about Billy’s laptop’s misbehaving, and his having to borrow mine… ;-))

And you’re in good didn’t-win-the-hard-drive-in-the-drawing company. Again!

Coco’s was yummy, and it was really hard to follow all the conversations.

That’s my story; I’m sticking to it!

Think You’re Seeing Tons More Ads on Facebook Lately?

You’re right…

The piece on Lifehacker.com starts out

“If you feel like Facebook has more ads than usual, you aren’t imagining it: Facebook’s been inundating us with more and more ads lately, and using your information—both online and offline—to do it. Here’s how it works, and how you can opt out.”

and continues with explanations and fixes.

April 15th General Meeting

Backup Options and Strategies

Backup Options and Strategies

Back up, so you can get back up

You do remember the 2nd Commandment from last month’s presentation, don’t you?

This month, you’re gonna find out ways to chose different options and strategies for your situation. Having a consistently-executed plan of regular backups is very important. It is not a question of if you will need it, only when.

We will be discussing types of backup media, keeping legacy backups up to date, hardware choices, and the different forms of backups. Included will be: local backups, file-by-file backups, incremental backups, data-only backups, history backups, full backups, clone backups, offsite backups, cloud backups, and backup services. Last but not least, we will cover backup security. Q & A discussion will be included; the only dumb question is one not asked!
