We are NOT meeting this month

We were hoping, again, to have our holiday party this time around, but couldn’t quite figure out how to make the yummy treats and drinks available over Zoom…

We are, of course, hoping to see y’all at the January 2023 meeting, same Bat time, same Bat channel.

So have a Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Joyous Kwanzaa, and a celebratory Solstice, and we’ll see you then!

Earthquake Warning!

“If you use the right app or phone settings, ShakeAlert will give you a few crucial seconds to drop, cover and hold on before an earthquake reaches you”, reports Geoffrey A Fowler, on The Washington Post.

He further reports:

Your phone can now warn you before an earthquake arrives.

Yes, before.

“Be-be-boop! Be-be-boop! Earthquake,” rang an app on my iPhone at 11:42 a.m. on Oct. 25. “Drop, cover, hold on, shaking expected.”

A 5.1-magnitude earthquake had just struck about 50 miles away in California’s Silicon Valley. I leaped out of my chair and grabbed a wall. A few seconds later, the ground began to rumble.

Sounds like something we all need to know about, eh? PYBT: America has an earthquake early-warning system now — on your phone.

October 17th General Meeting

We will *not* be meeting this month

Due to various scheduling nightmares/phases of the moon/high tides/sunspots, we were unable to coordinate having the meeting this month. If we’d gone along with having the meeting, various parts would have been scheduled on different days, at different times…

Made a lot more sense to just say “No!” and get back to normal next month. Hoping to see y’all then!
