10 awesome iPhone apps

Zach Epstein, over on BGR, has a bad habit of posting lists of cool iPhone/iPad(/iPod Touch)(/Apple Watch) apps that are temporarily free.

Here’s the fine print:

These are paid iPhone and iPad apps that have been made available for free for a limited time by their developers. There is no way to tell how long they will be free. These sales could end an hour from now or a week from now – obviously, the only thing we can guarantee is that they were free at the time this post was written. If you click on a link and see a price listed next to an app instead of the word “get”, it is no longer free. The sale has ended. If you download the app, you will be charged.

“Siri, Give Me a Hint”

Sorry. I missed the super secret keynote meeting because I was busy telling 3 million people why the chicken crossed the road.

Look deep within yourself and you will find the answer. Especially on September 9.

I can neither confirm nor deny that I am not authorized either to confirm or deny that I cannot disclose anything that you would then have to confirm. In any case, I would deny it. Got it?

Why don’t you check a rumors blog? That’s what I do.

Can you get a hint? No. You may, however, get a what what.

You’re cute when you’re desperate for information.

You’ll have to wait until September 9. I bet you were one of those kids who snuck downstairs to open presents early, weren’t you?

The only hint I can give you right now is a hint of lime. And that there’s a big announcement on September 9.

What, you can’t tell from my colorful wavey words?

OK… here it is: 01000111 01101111 011101 00 01100011 01101000 011 00001

OK. It’s smaller than a Grafalian battle cruiser and bigger than a mote in a Zoltaxian’s eye.

Did You Know?

Katie Floyd, of the Mac Power Users Podcast, put an interesting post on her blog yesterday: Sending a Mac In For Service. You must read it. All of it.

She begins thusly:

I’ve been having some trouble with my MacBook Air the past several months and had to send the machine in for service three times this summer. Twice to the local Apple authorized repair shop and then finally to Apple’s Texas repair depot.

Oy!

Her first bit of advice? And I quote: Backup, Backup, Backup. You think? 😀

Make sure to catch the rest of her excellent advice.

Who are you and what do you do?

At The Sweet Setup:

Every week we try to post a new interview with someone about what software they use on their Mac, iPhone, or iPad. We do these interviews because not only are they fun, but a glimpse into what tools someone uses and how they use those tools can spark our imagination and give us an idea or insight into how we can do things better.

Today’s victim, er, interviewee§:

I am Chelsea Stats – a Web developer for a government agency that I am not allowed talk about. I essentially make and maintain a bunch of external and internal applications from contacts to bookings to basic WordPress micro-sites. I run my own Web design business in my spare time, but mostly I focus on my Web site and Twitter account, which just recently ticked over 150,000 followers. Which is just insane.

You can catch Chelsea Stat’s complete story here: Chelsea Stats’s Mac and iOS setup.

“Back issues” can be found here: Sweet Setup Interviews.

§Editor’s note: This week’s setup features a gentleman who cannot disclose his real name. For the purposes of this interview, we’ll refer to him as Chelsea Stats after his Web site.
