Yosemite and iOS 8 Workshops Postponed

Due to a convoluted set of circumstances, the Yosemite and iOS 8 workshops scheduled for this coming Saturday and next Saturday (24 and 31 January) at Di-No have been postponed.

We are working on finalizing dates and personnel even as we speak; stay tuned to your e-mail in boxes and the Web site, and at the February meeting, for all the details.

Who are you and what do you do?

At The Sweet Setup:

Every week we try to post a new interview with someone about what software they use on their Mac, iPhone, or iPad. We do these interviews because not only are they fun, but a glimpse into what tools someone uses and how they use those tools can spark our imagination and give us an idea or insight into how we can do things better.

Today’s victim, er, interviewee:

My name is Jennifer Rowsell and I work as the Next Generations Pastor at The Journey Church. I blog very infrequently and some of my interests include music, travel, and cats.

You can catch Jennifer’s complete story here: Jennifer Rowsell’s Mac and iOS setup.

“Back issues” can be found here: Sweet Setup Interviews.

Did You Know?

Whether you’re a new Mac user or you’ve got some computing miles under your belt, you’ll probably be interested in at least some of Glenn Fleishman’s suggestions. As he puts it:

As a nearly 30-year veteran of Mac ownership, I have 10 solid suggestions that will make your life better by shaving off the little irritations that remain in Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite and in Apple’s bundled software. A new Mac user will be happier than otherwise, and a veteran user looking to refresh a system will find the time and effort savings quite rewarding as well.

PYBT: The first 10 apps to install on your brand-new Mac, on Macworld, for the list. Do not miss the other (often pretty good) lists from commenters.

My name is Sebastian Green. I currently run a small division of an IT Support company in Manchester (UK). I Resolve…

Have you made your new year’s resolutions yet? Yes or no, I think you should take a look at Bradley Chambers’ suggestions on The Sweet Setup. As he notes:

As 2014 comes to a close, many of us are looking ahead to making 2015 our most successful year yet. As Apple users, we generally take pride in our computing setup and technology. Technology is always moving forward, so you can’t go years without upgrading or maintaining your equipment. While resolutions generally deal with losing weight or finishing a project at home, our technology setups can also be part of our plan. Here is a list of things you might consider doing in the coming year:

Check out Technology resolutions for 2015; you’ll probably catch at least one addition to your resolution list.
