Meetings

Meeting Time

As a rule, we meet the third Monday of each month. When that date is not available, we meet as close to it as possible. Always be sure to check our monthly calendar here for current meeting info.

Meeting Place

The Pasadena Central Public Library at 285 E. Walnut Street, Pasadena, CA 91107.

Click on the address above to get a detailed Google Map of the Library and you can enter your address there to get driving directions.

We gather for an informal “networking” period at 6:45 p.m.

Then, at 7:00 p.m. we begin the meeting with a Tips and Tricks session, also featuring an opportunity for Q&A on general topics relating to the Macintosh.

The main topic presentation will begin at 7:15 p.m.

Following a break around 8:30 p.m. we will conduct our drawing for great prizes including a random ‘super prize‘.

Informal discussions will continue when we congregate at the “Meeting-after-the meeting” at Coco’s Restaurant on Lake Street.

NOTE: The library asks that we park on the street, rather than in the parking lot so regular patrons can still use the library. Please respect this request.

What can you expect?

Each meeting begins with a chance to mingle with others, meeting folks casually. Then we begin our presentation, typically making some announcements and sharing news.

After that we do some Q&A. This is your chance to ask questions about whatever is challenging you, let members know you have something for sale or are in the market to purchase something. The length of our Q&A depends on our presentation or speaker for the evening. We may have one main presentation or a couple of shorter ones. Somewhere in there we take a break, so you can mingle again. Last, we wrap up with a drawing. (Members each get a free drawing ticket.)

Meeting Notification

Traditionally we have used a printed newsletter to keep members up to date with upcoming meeting information. However, with the move from a monthly newsletter to this website, we have moved to 2 new options. As a member you may choose to receive meeting noticed via email or a postcard mailed to you.

  • If you have not attended a meeting recently and had the opportunity to tell us your preference, please email us with your choice and the desired address.
  • If you are not yet a member, please use the membership form rather than emailing us.

The meeting after the meeting

After each meeting some of us move on to the local Coco’s for a late night meal or snack and some good company. Sometimes we talk Mac and sometimes we don’t. There’s no agenda. It’s purely social. During each meeting we ask for a show of hands from those who will be joining us. That way we call ahead and let our friends there know how many to expect. The staff there is always great to us.

Here’s Coco’s website and a map.

About

Welcome to the San Gabriel Valley Macintosh Users Group. We are an Apple registered user group in the Pasadena, CA area. Our purpose is to help people user, repair and evangelize Macintosh computers.

We urge you to come attend our monthly meetings and enjoy meeting fellow Mac fans and maybe win a prize in our raffle. We meet every THIRD MONDAY of the month at the Pasadena Public Library on Walnut Ave in Pasadena.

Our dues are 8.2 cents a day or $30 a year :-). You can definitely get value for your money by attending a few meetings and maybe winning a cool raffle prize or two.

At each meeting we have one or two main presentations that introduce you to some Mac hardware or cool new software. The second hour of the meeting is devoted to Q&A sessions and intense user debates on some Mac minutiae or trivia.

After the two hour meeting a few die-hards continue the meeting at a nearby restaurant where over dinner the debate over Macs/ipods/iPhone continues well into the night.

So come on down for the next meeting and introduce yourself. We are a close knit fun loving group of Mac-heads that enjoy meeting new people and sharing their Macexperiences…
